Our client based in Wingfield is looking for Fettlers for both day and night shift roles. 4 X 10 or 12 hour shifts a week. What is fettling:


Fettling is the process after parts are moulded in the DISA side of the foundry. This is where parts are sorted (Quality) Good part continue to be fettled the reject/scrap parts will go back and be remelted and moulded. Use of 24” Pedestal Grinders, 9” and 5” Grinders, dirty and dusty environment and all parts will still be hot/warm. Heavy lifting may be involved.

Day shift

12 hour shifts (5am – 5pm) - 9.5 hours per shift – 2.5 hours per day OT

Breaks: 1 X 10 minute paid break, 1 X 20 minute paid break, 1 X 10 minute paid break

10 hour shifts (6am – 4pm) - 9.5 hours per day – 0.5hrs per day OT

Breaks: 2 X 10 minute paid breaks

Grinders, very large bench grinders, cranes, cutters, vibrators

Through job rotation you could potentially be doing any one of these tasks on the day

Knocking off various size moulds (up to 16kg) from vibrating conveyor, removing the excess parts using a hammer and pneumatic tools and placing into bin. Excess castings thrown / pushed onto second conveyor. Up to 500 parts per hour between two workers.

Grinding using pedestal grinder (24 and 9 inch) at fixed height as well as hand held pneumatic grinders

Quality checking parts as they come through

Hanging castings for the paint line. Taken from waist height trolley and hung onto hooks which vary according to size of casting.

These roles are on an ongoing basis, it is hard, dirty and heavy work BUT is ongoing and may become permanent. Hours are garaunteed 40 or 48 hours a week. PPE is supplied.
