Health, Safety & Environmental Advisors

Our Client is a highly recognised mining company in Australia, and is seeking highly experienced Health and Safety Advisors and Environmental Advisors.

The last few months has seen significant growth for this company and 2019 is shaping up to be a year of further development for the Company. As a result the Company is now seeking high quality employee’s to support its growing operations.

The Role

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environment Manager, this role is accountable for providing technical environmental advice and support. The objective of this role is to be compliant with environmental regulatory requirements and adopt environmental awareness on site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist operations successfully implement and achieve compliance with environmental permits and management plans at each site associated with water, waste rock, air and waste as a bare minimum.
  • Mentor a site based Environmental Advisor at the Queensland Operations who is responsible for monitoring, data management, analytical trends and preliminary reporting;
  • Manage all aspects of compliance, non-compliance and legacy reporting to the regulatory authority;
  • Build positive relationships with the regulatory authority on permitting and compliance matters;
  • Project manage studies and supporting information for applications to amend environmental authorities, including external consultants and contractors;
  • Prepare mine closure planning activities and identify opportunities for progressive rehabilitation;
  • Deliver environmental inductions and training to site staff to heighten their environmental awareness;
  • Respond to environmental incidents, identify corrective actions and/or preventative measures and close out investigations; and
  • Ensure all records and documentation are maintained in an auditable state that demonstrates compliance at all times.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be Able to Demonstrate:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Environmental Science or Similar
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in environmental management in mining or similar
  • Detailed knowledge of and experience of planning and implementing strategies to achieve compliance, including consultation with contractors and state environmental regulators
  • Experience in preparing regular environmental performance reports
