Our client, a NSW Government Department require the skills of an Intranet officer for an initial 6 month contract. Based in Burwood this role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organisations intranet sites so they remain a valuable and useful business tool for employees, whilst ensuring that the intranet remains aligned with business and communications objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

  • System administration of Squiz Matrix Content Management System (CMS), Funnelback search engine and Sawmill analytics, including:
  • Creating/removing/changing publishing access, workflows and permissions
  • Monitoring publisher activity
  • Approving/rejecting publishing changes
  • Checking asset count and broken link reports and circulating these reports to publishers
  • Reporting publishing and search engine problems to vendor and IT
  • Maintaining metadata standards and version control
  • Reviewing site usability and information architecture according to staff needs and organisational objectives.
  • Communicating and implementing changes in consultation with Intranet Publisher
  • Monitoring and administering search software (Funnelback)
  • Monitoring site usage (Sawmill) supporting the Intranet Publisher to create stats reports when necessary
  • Publishing content
  • Proofreading content and making suggestions for owners and publishers to make it suitable for online use and compliant with standards such as brand guidelines, copyright law and WCAG 2.0
  • Editing and writing content, where applicable
  • Creating/editing images in Photoshop
  • Applying brand, editorial and corporate communication standards, as well as consistent intranet navigation, page layout and styles

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience using an intranet/website Content Management System (CMS)
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and ability to liaise with different teams and large numbers of people.
  • Knowledge of /experience in web usability, information architecture design, user experience and user acceptance testing, web statistics, search
  • Proven ability to assess priorities, manage competing deadlines, manage own time effectively and work without close supervision
  • Photoshop skills (e.g. resizing and cropping images in the correct file format) and an understanding of social media, multimedia
  • Excellent attention to detail (e.g. ensuring that updates on one intranet are replicated on the two other sites or comparing content and functionality during testing of site upgrades/site redesigns/content migrations/roll out of new functionality)
