12 month contract to cover a maternity leave

A State Government Department who have a large portfolio and who employ over 20,000 staff across Victoria and who have an integral role in ensuring our state runs smoothly have a vacancy for a payroll manager for a 12 month contract to cover a maternity leave.

The department embraces change and contemporary practices, they actively seek out process improvements and ways to make things work better.

The role reports into the Manager of Payroll Services, sits within the HR team and has a team of 18 reporting through into the role. We are looking for someone to effectively manage the people within the team, give expert payroll advice and to manage process improvement initiatives.

Key information:

- A team that manages the master file changes & payroll for 6,500 employees.

- The team processes 1400-1600 transactions a fortnight across 2 different paydays.

- The team receives 1000 emails to action per fortnight.

- The manager will handle escalations within the team, if a payroll matter has been escalated or if there is a large payroll issue to be rectified this person will be the "go-to".

- You will need to have great knowledge of payroll, superannuation, taxation, dealing with high volumes and dealing with customers.

- You will also need to understand EBAs.

- The team use Chris21 but you wont be required to do so.

- The tasks they carry out on Chris21 are: New starters, terminations, timesheets, contract variations, higher duties, overtime, leave, banking and the roles relating to the processing of the payroll.

- Based in the CBD.

- Flexible start and end time, 76 hour fortnight.

- 12 month contract.
