Randstad Payroll Recruitment Melbourne are currently recruiting an interim payroll manager for a large non-for profit organisation within the inner suburbs of Melbourne.

This role will be reporting to the head of shared services and will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient payroll for 3,400 permanent and 1,600 casual employees.

You will be managing the day to day activities of the team and ensuring that processes are followed.

Based in Melbourne for the past 20 years, they have a long and proud history of ensuring their services are delivered efficiently across Australia.

The Team

You will be reporting into the shared services manager who leads finance and HR operations, your senior leadership team has been with the business for a significant amount of time and are forward looking, focused on continuous improvement and will be able to provide support during the interim period.

Your team of payroll professionals have all been with the business over 6 months and there is a core of long standing staff within the team. They are split out by geography and are experts in their local EBAs and sites.

The role

You will be:

- Leading the team, taking on responsibility for recruitment, retention, appraisals, workload management, team performance against KPIs and service management.

- Ensuring that the payroll production reflects ongoing changes in legislation.

- Handling escalations from areas of the business in a professional manner.

- Continuously improving the payroll processes.

- Ensuring that the links between the T&A system (timetarget) and the payroll system (iChris) are seamless.

- Conducting leave audits.

- Maintaining a compliant environment.

Experience and Skills required:

- Extensive payroll experience, operating at a senior, team leader or manager level.

- Experience working within a medium sized organisation that has multiple EBAs or awards.

- Excellent skills on payroll systems and within T&A systems, Chris21 and Timetarget preferred but not essential.

- Experience in a changing environment.

- Up to date payroll knowledge.

- Effective communication skills at all levels.
