The Client

Our client is a privately owned Australian business primarily working within the recycling industry and are in expansion mode. Due to increased growth within the business, the team has reshuffled and merged procurement and supply chain together to spearhead the companies expenditure across these divisions and sites.

The Role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position is responsible for providing thorough coordination of procurement and contract documentation and administrative services to support all production sites in Victoria. The role will also encompass some supply chain and logistics duties so you are cross trained in the department.

The Responsibilities:

Procurement/ Purchasing

  • Prepare purchases orders and send copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
  • Respond to the enquiries about order status, changes or cancellations.
  • Contact suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists.
  • Compare prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
  • Calculate costs of orders, and charge or forward invoices to finance

Supply Chain/ Logistics

  • Ongoing demand forecasting
  • Work with the Engineering and Maintenance teams to source new vendors, parts, and materials
  • Work with the operations team to coordinate parts during peak production
  • Maintain a supplier evaluation system and coordinate with vendors to help improve their performance
  • Vendor negotiations

Skills Required

  • Previous experience within procurement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical/engineering mindset advantageous
  • Tertiary qualification in supply chain management, procurement, inventory management or business administration would be desirable but not essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly computer literate with a focus in Excel
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage multiple demands/priorities and be a self-starter.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the drive and capacity to communicate positively to members and staff throughout all levels of the organisation.
