About the role

Our client is a market leading Mutual Bank that prides themselves on their ability to retain existing clients as well attract new business every day. They are looking for Sales Consultants to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for dealing with potential and existing customers of the Bank that are seeking consumer credit loans. The Sales Consultant will effectively “own” these customers and guides them through all aspects of the loans journey. It's imperative that the ideal candidate has a strong compliance focus whilst providing superior service and meeting service level agreements. You will be responsible for the ongoing achievement of individual lending and insurance sales targets. If you possess a positive and professional manner and are a self confessed self-starter who initiates personal development, then this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking calls on the Lending phone queue;
  • Contacting leads in the Lending task buckets;
  • Using the Credit Assessment Calculator "conditional" approvals, followed by phone-a-loan application on the spot or offer of channel of choice to advance applications (e.g. set up of face to face appointments, apply on-line, SKYPE, Web chat etc.);
  • Conduct needs based conversations incorporating additional Lending (e.g. refinance of other debts, pre-approved credit cards, balance transfers etc.), protection (CCI, general insurance) and financial planning. Refer hot leads and future needs to appropriate departments;
  • Load application on ORIGEN, including VEDA Advantage Credit Reports;
  • Conduct assessment and approve if within DLA (positive serviceability, LVR<80%, standard security);
  • Conduct assessment and recommendation if outside DLA or subject to Family Guarantee or LMI;
  • For complex Lending (e.g. commercial or SMSF applications) discuss objectives and requirements and refer to Credit team for further guidance regarding suitability and documentation requirements.
  • Keep customers informed of progress, follow up of outstanding documentation and approval or decline of their applications via preferred method (e.g. SMS, email or phone);
  • Conduct post funding phone calls to ensure customer is satisfied with loan arrangements, to answer any queries and to ask for referrals;
  • Conduct loan retention calls;
  • Participate in outbound calling campaigns;
  • Participate in home loan seminars.
  • Maintain DLA competency (if applicable), NCCP hours and take responsibility for personal development, supported by Senior Supervisor Sales’ coaching and training.
  • Consider the overall interests of the Mutual Bank when making decisions.
  • Providing superior personalised customer service at all times.

The successful candidate will demonstrate

  • A Tier2 FSRA qualification (essential)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of personal and mortgage lending
  • Any other relevant financial industry qualification (desirable but not a must)
  • Experience in selling consumer credit and general insurance
  • Sales experience in a call centre environment
  • Proficiency in in Microsoft office
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • High attention to detail and excellent time management
