Randstad currently has an exciting opportunity to join the Queensland public Sector. This is a great chance to work in a well known, established, State Government Department. This is an A07 Principal Systems Accountant position where will be reporting in to The Manager of Systems Accountant. This role would suit someone who has public and private sector experience that is looking to take on a challenge in the next step of their career. This is a 12months fixed term contract to commence immediately and based in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.

About the Role:

Reporting functionally to the Finance Stream Lead, this role provides financial systems and process advice and supports the implementation of tenancy finance functions in Reside and related interface to ECC6.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert advice on financial systems and processes to the Program team to enable high quality project outcomes for the Finance business.
  • Lead a small team of Systems Accounting Subject Matter Experts to undertake analysis of financial transactions and provide advice on your subject matter expertise where required
  • Review and provide feedback on project products (deliverables) where requested by the Stream Lead
  • Participate and lead discussions in design workshops for finance processes where required
  • Lead preparation of briefing notes, advice and correspondence on Tenancy Finance processes, to the Finance Directors where required
  • Lead and participate in data migration and reconciliation activities
  • Develop and review test scripts for the Department’s user acceptance testing (UAT)

About you:

  • Exposure to projects would be advantageous
  • You have demonstrated experience in leading a team of management accountants in the analysis and understanding of finance systems, as well as an understanding of current finance business practices with the capability to identify business process efficiencies and recommend improvements
  • You have proven experience in leading and carrying out complicated systems analysis and testing activities of a large complex financial system
  • You manage, build and sustain strong working relationships with team members, internal clients and facilitate a cooperative and collaborative work environment
  • You lead and demonstrate public service professionalism and probity; and engage in continuous improvement of work practices, systems and processes
  • You have demonstrated high level communication skills (both verbal and written) including consultation, negotiation and liaison skills
  • You must be flexible and adaptable and ready to take on a challenge
