This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior commercial manager to join a client side delivery authority in the construction of a multi-billion dollar rail program that will shape Sydney's future.

Initially for the first 12 months you will be responsible during the procurement phase for station construction which will involve:

  • Advising on commercial matters and influencing the contract documentation and procurement processes to support the delivery of demonstrable value for money outcomes.
  • Leading the contract finalisation, commercial and financial close.

After the initial 12 months construction work will ramp up as the program will go into delivery phase which will involve:

  • Providing effective commercial advice to effectively manage an assigned contract to ensure that the client satisfies its obligations and does not compromise its rights under the contract; and do everything reasonably possible to ensure the contractor meets its obligations under the contract.
  • Providing input in respect of commercial impacts of changes and review changes proposals from a commercial perspective considering the whole of the project to ensure consistent and effective practices.
  • Pro-actively and reactively support the project to deliver commercial response to proposed scope/time changes and related issues, including advising on the impacts of delays or additional costs and proposing strategies to address emerging contractual issues or disputes.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the relevant tertiary qualifications in quantity surveying, engineering or equivalent and ideally have worked on both the client and contractor side of a major brownfield rail construction project. You will also need to have:

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and presentation communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Extensive experience in driving commercial outcomes on complex, multi-contract infrastructure projects
  • Extensive experience in pre-contract and/or post contract commercial negotiations
  • Experience in a range of procurement models such as Design and Construct (D&C).

Based out of Sydney's CBD this 2 year contract will be paying in the vicinity of $1600 per day + super dependent on level of experience.
