Our client, a NSW Government Department are seeking a skilled Senior Communications Advisor for an initial 6 month period. Based at Sydney Olympic Park the primary purpose of the role is to develop content, provide expert tactical advice and execute communications, media and engagement activities to support business activities and strategic projects delivered by the organisation.

Key accountabilities

  • Produce and execute content for project and corporate communications, including digital and social channels, annual report, Ministerial correspondence, Board and CEO correspondence, speeches and presentations, corporate event communications, media releases, news stories
  • Contribute to cabinet and ministerial briefings as required
  • Identify opportunities to positively promote the organisation and its network of venues through proactive media and stakeholder engagement activities and develop and execute action plans accordingly
  • Issues management including the development and delivery of preemptive, tactical action plans as well as managing day to day media and other enquiries
  • Provide expert advice to senior personnel regarding all corporate and project communications
  • Support the Manager, Communications with internal communications

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications or Marketing
  • Experience delivering communications within a construction or infrastructure project environment
  • Government experience or exposure ideal
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive experience in writing for a variety of mediums and audiences
  • Ability to influence public buy-in and support for projects through content
  • Proven background in content creation and execution, including thought leadership content, social media management and multimedia
  • Significant stakeholder management experience across multiple levels (internal and external)
  • Ability to influence best practice principles for leveraging strategic relationships
