Senior Data Analyst

Gosford

Start Date: 03/09/18

End Date: 30/08/19

Hours of work: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.


We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to provide business intelligence and value-add analysis and commentaries to support the identification of trends and emerging issues. This is a great opportunity to use your high-level data analytics and reporting capability to service the growing needs of the business, including the use of multiple and innovative software tools. This is the role for you if you are looking to provide meaningful insights for informed decision making and to support policy and regulatory development.
Primary purpose of the role


Design, develop and deliver high quality and timely applied statistical and other research projects utilising data and information from a wide range of sources to support strategic decision-making and provide evaluations of existing and planned initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will:
• have strong experience analysing complex databases ideally using SAS (Statistical Application Systems) software or similar and SQL and Business Intelligence applications ideally Qlik Sense or similar.
• have experience in interpreting data and preparing reports to publication standards ensuring accuracy, relevance and comparability
• possess strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• be customer service focussed with the ability to understand and satisfy
• client needs
• Have the ability to translate and present complex data to multiple stakeholders
• Be organised and able to complete projects within agreed budget and deadlines.
• Have strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills


Key Accountabilities:
• Undertake and guide critical complex quantitative and qualitative analyses, interpret and analyse data, provide advice on statistical methodologies, and contribute to policy development resulting in improved system performance.
• Manage, coordinate and facilitate major projects/work programs, and work in partnership across the organisation to undertake complex data analyses and maximise the use of both relevant internal and external data sources for analytical purposes and enhancement of data self-service offerings.
• Provide reports, recommendations and advice in relation to research undertaken, ensure all reports meet a high professional standard in terms of timeliness, accuracy and relevance, and prepare high-level briefing papers, submissions and Ministerial correspondence.
• Monitor and report on the relevant industry, current and emerging issues and trends.
• Maintain contemporary knowledge in data analytics to assist in the adoption of best practice direction in policy and regulatory activities.
• Provide advice, guidance and mentoring of stakeholders in research, analytical and modeling techniques ensuring that results and outcomes meet or exceed expectations.
• Some small amount of travel may be required.
