This exciting role for an environmental scientist or environmental engineer (or similar) will appeal to confident environmental professionals who also posses outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Ket accountabilities are as follows:

  1. Assess applications and applications for variations to undertake activities in the earth resources sector across Victoria using defined criteria under the relevant legislation:
  • Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990
  • Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage Act 2010
  • Greenhouse Gas Geological Sequestration Act 2008
  • Petroleum Act 1998
  • Geothermal Energy Resources Act 2005
  1. Assess and identify proposals for earth resources activities that satisfy the requirements under relevant codes of practise and exemptions, such as for low impact exploration
  2. Conduct on-site inspections and consultations with applicants and co-regulators to inform the assessment of proposed activities.
  3. Provide advice to inform the assessment of rehabilitation liabilities and bonds.
  4. Assimilate all information gathered, prepare assessment reports and make recommendations to the Department Head’s delegate on the proposed outcome of applications, and maintain associated records in accordance with public sector requirements.
