About the client

As a leading local council based in Melbourne’s northern suburbs this large organisation prides itself on being at the forefront of sustainability, inclusivity and transparency. With a widespread IT upgrade program of work underway they have a newly created role for a Senior Networking Engineer who will work hands on in their infrastructure stream of work. There will be a strong focus on continuous improvement and supporting IT projects. You will have strong communication skills and thrive in a collaborative environment where you can share your knowledge and learn from those around you.

Key Skills

The successful candidate will be required to provide strong knowledge and capability across the following areas:

  • IPv4 and IPv6
  • LAN Switching -Spanning Tree, VLANs, and VTP
  • Routing Protocols - OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP
  • High level Cisco LAN/WAN/Security devices
  • Strong working knowledge of Blade Server technology and Storage Area Networks
  • Architecture experience and strong network configuration experience
  • WAN Acceleration and Optimisation
  • Load Balancing, network management and performance management (including Netscalers)
  • Azure or AWS hands on experience

Desirable but not essential

  • Working knowledge of ASR or Azure Backups
  • Applications including, Solarwinds, OMS and Visio.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server 2012, and later versions, including core services such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Office 365 and other Microsoft suites
