Reporting to the Site Construction Superintendent you will be temporarily assigned to a Major Project working closely with the Site Manager to provide a lead role in Site supervision for Mechanical and structural works for the client.

The main purpose of the role is managing work schedules and local engagement of resources on the construction site. Typical construction works under your control will include structural steel installation, transportable building erection, mechanical installation, piping installation. Works will include Electrical Supervisors to assist for the supervision of electrical components.

You will be responsible for achieving on site project objectives for safety, environment, communication, quality, costs and time. A professional and accountable approach is required at all times.

The key measurement of success will be the ability to demonstrate leadership and accountability for the works under your management ensuring that project objectives are met in terms of safety, quality, timeliness and budget.

Key stakeholders/interfaces:

Site Manager, Site Construction Superintendent, Project Managers, Planning & Control Engineer, Construction Supervisors, Senior and Discipline Engineers, External Suppliers and Contractors.

Major Responsibilities / Duties

  • Promote Incident and Injury Free (IIF) at every opportunity and be a leader for IIF for the client.
  • Safety onsite of visitors, contractors and employees, including but not limited to managing and implementing Safety, Environment and Quality plans.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of safe work method statements and JSEA’s for the organisations work activities.
  • Prepare and organise current and future works on site to ensure continual work flow and efficiency.
  • Assist in carrying out incident investigations, completing incident reports and ensuring that they are completed and corrective actions are implemented in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation, issuing and monitoring of all work permits for works under your control on site.
  • Monitoring site conditions including weather, physical conditions, work flow, work allocation, heat and UV issues that may affect personnel on site.
  • Managing fatigue as per the client policy.
  • Engagement of suppliers and sub-contractors in line with clients policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the plant is constructed in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
  • Assist where necessary to ensure all the quality documentation is completed in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Carry out Safe Act Observations on construction as detailed in client procedure.
  • Verify that personnel working onsite are appropriately trained to undertake the tasks as per client procedure.
  • Assist with hands on work as required.
  • Execute responsibilities in a safe and non-discriminatory manner as defined in client, Policies and Plans, consistent with the Duty of Care under the OHS&W Act, while promoting and adhering to the company's Quality Policy Statement and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Understand and continually demonstrate compliance with rules and Group policies as determined from time to time.
  • In the absence of the Site Manager undertake the responsibility of Site Manager and oversee all works on site for limited periods of time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications / Experience / Skills

  • Trade qualification or equivalent with supervisory experience
  • Has a proven track record in managing people and projects in an industrial environment to achieve objectives in quality, time, safety, environment management and cost
  • Computer literate, experience and capabilities to use windows based programmes:-
    • Word (Essential)
    • Excel (Essential)
  • Experience in a similar role would be highly regarded
  • Effective evaluation, analytical and communication skills
  • First Aid certification
  • Construction white card
  • Drivers licence
  • Ability to work under pressure.
