STATE INSPECTOR

Health & Return to Work (RTW), Workplace Health, SafeWork NSW

SafeWork NSW is the state’s workplace health and safety regulator. We focus on harm prevention and improving the health and safety culture in NSW workplaces. We are currently seeking a State Inspector within the Health and Return to Work – Workplace Health team to provide technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to occupational disease, health promotion and/or public health management to reduce work health and safety risks.

The State Inspector is the highest-level inspector grade in SafeWork NSW. Apply your industry experience and qualifications to work in partnership with NSW workplaces to assist them in creating and maintaining work health and safety standards so that workers return home safely each day. You will provide expert technical advice in relation to the prevention and management of occupational diseases, illness, health and wellbeing promotion in the workplace.

You will utilise your high-level engagement skills to develop and implement state-wide strategic industry initiatives as they relate to occupational disease and chronic disease in the workplace. You will also assist in the conduct of investigations into causes of workplace incidents, injuries and fatalities and where required, provide specialist advice regarding compliance with WHS legislation. You will also play a pivotal role in working with and building the capability of internal and external stakeholders and customers.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have the Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection), and/or equivalent relevant qualification or above in a related field such as health, health science, human movement, nutrition, or applied science and/or, 5+ years industry experience.
  • Have extensive experience in occupational disease and/or public health management to provide strategic leadership and expert advice on prevention and response activities
  • Have advanced communication skills to proactively engage and influence key industry stakeholders in relation to safety in workplaces
  • Have knowledge and experience in applying WHS legislation

Location: Field based position. However, base office locations are Gosford, Baulkham Hills or Liverpool (negotiable with successful candidate)

Salary: Receive an attractive salary package along with packaged motor vehicle options. Salary range starting from $127,181 plus superannuation.
