Full Job Description

You will have the pleasure of working closely with the Manager of Strategic & Statutory Planning, making it a great opportunity for you to learn from the best. Collaborating as a team is a key value for the council. This means you respect and utilise each individual’s differences regarding skills and abilities to achieve a better outcome.

What does your day look like?

In this role you provide advice regarding all aspects of statutory planning. You make sure the council meets its legislative obligations and achieves its planning objectives. You do this through:

  • Recording and processing of town planning and subdivision applications
  • Developing policy services and programs
  • Preparation, research and presentation of appeal submissions on behalf of the Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT)
  • Liaising with planners on specific projects and issues
  • Undertaking site inspections
  • Preparing written reports and making recommendations regarding statutory matters

To be successful, you will possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of planning scheme and legislation
  • Experience in Statutory Planning
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills


To ensure that you are facilitated to succeed you will have extensive support from your council and Randstad colleagues. This assignment will be for 3 months full time, there is also a possibility to extend.
