Studio Principal - Landscape


Randstad have partnered with a reputable mid-sized Australian multi-disciplinary studio who specialize within Landscape Architecture, Heritage, Justice, Health and Education Sectors. They have a stable long-term tenure within the Australian market; working closely with both public and private clients to design, and interpret sites that express its unique history and culture. The role of Studio Principal; Landscape, requires a close working relationship with the Board of Directors and the active participation and contribution to produce innovative and highly advanced designs for across the Landscape portfolio, including but not limited to Education, Justice, Health, Civic Commercial and Retail Sectors. This role gives responsibility for quality of design, documentation and co-ordination of projects including the management of team, program and budgets as well as client relationships.


  • Regular reporting to the Board of Directors studio work flows, program / budget and new business opportunities;
  • Assisting with bid submissions, the winning of new projects and maintaining existing client relationships to achieve repeat business outcomes;
  • Lead design reviews, initiate research on innovation and achieve excellence in design outcomes, reporting to the Design Director;
  • Managing clients, consultants and stakeholders through design, documentation and construction
  • Managing the resources and skills of Landscape Architects and support staff within your studio and leveraging the services of other practice disciplines (Architecture, Heritage, Interiors and Advisory);
  • Effectively plan, programme, budget, and coordinate projects;
  • Show initiative in identifying problems and leading solutions throughout the design and construction process;
  • Ensure the quality control of final architectural product, report on outcomes and ensure compliance to office procedures and report to relevant Directors.


  • Be degree qualified in Landscape Architecture and hold registration as a Landscape architect
  • Have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in Australia in Landscape Architectural practice;
  • Extensive knowledge of project delivery from Schematic Design to Contract Administration;
  • Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of BCA, Australian Standards, and NSW Planning framework;
  • Advanced Presentation skills; and Organisation skills;
  • Experience in business development and tender submissions;
  • Experience in managing and mentoring a team demonstrating advanced people skills.
  • An understanding of documentation delivery within Vectorworks (preferable)
