Randstad are currently recruiting for the position of Transport Supervisor, located for our client in the North Western Suburbs. You will be a highly motivated individual with experience in fleet management as well as leading and driving a successful team. Reporting to the Site Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the effective use of the company fleet and drivers within fatigue management guidelines, in accordance with company policies, legislative obligations and customer requirements. This role will also be involved in the coordination of contractors where required as well as managing safety throughout direct areas of responsibility.

The primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Take the lead in introducing innovation in processes and equipment.
  • Ensure maximum payloads are achieved to deliver acceptable commercial returns.
  • Adhere to all OH&S and legislative requirements.
  • Coordinate the mandatory training required for drivers, ensuring they are competent to perform tasks and ensuring records are well maintained and up to date.
  • Ensure all new employees are inducted and trained before commencement as per company guidelines.
  • Ensure that all drivers complete their duties in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a co-operative relationship with customers.
  • Support the development and coordinator of all weekly reports, ensuring they are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Complete fortnightly fleet inspections and ensure all action is taken and followed up on.
  • Effectively coordinate the transport and logistics in accordance with company policies, legislative obligations and customer requirements.
  • Ensure all driver run sheets from previous day are returned and any ad hoc charges forwarded, also capturing all additional transport costs and sending to supervisor for approval.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Certificate IV or higher in Logistics or Business is desired.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a transport scheduling/coordination role.
  • Highly analytical.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Knowledge of KPI’s and their importance in business.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Australian transport rules and regulations.
  • Detailed knowledge of transport and warehousing and/or receipting functions.
  • Excellent understanding of general freight operations including load restraint expertise and COR obligations.
  • High level skill in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to operate autonomously and as part of a team.
  • SAP warehousing experience is desired.
