Solution Architect
Job Description
We are looking for an enterprise-level Solution Architect that will be working on strategic projects as a member of the Intact Enterprise Architecture Team that includes Enterprise Architecture and Data Architecture. The Solution Architect will need to work also with Infrastructure Architects, Application Architects and Developers as well as Business Analysts and clients to realize enterprise objectives across multiple business domains.
Responsibilities
• Participate in various projects as a solution architect which includes:
o Requirements Analysis
o Solution Design
o Solution Architecture Documentation
o Implementation Guidance
o Implementation Follow up
• Participate in product selection processes
• Participate in defining standards & patterns
• Participate in governance processes
• Participate in peer reviews & review boards
• Participate in roadmaps & strategies
Characteristics
• A team player, able to mentor, open to suggestions & recommendations from peers
• An excellent bilingual communicator, at ease with presentations, able to scale detail to target audience
• Ability to drive Architecure direction and standards while fitting within time, budget, and scope considerations of the projects.
• Aptitude for designing solutions that increase value & agility across projects/domains
• Follow & execute on guiding principles & strategic direction while providing feedback & ideas
• Multitasking, multiple projects/initiatives in parallel
• Keep up with architecture trends, approaches & strategies. Open to training/certifications
• Comfortable working across lines of business & domains (Policy, Claims, Billing etc.)
• Open to travel between Montreal, St-Hyacinthe & Toronto on occasion
Qualifications
• University degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science or engineering
• Very good knowledge & proven experience (3+ years) with:
o service oriented architecture – good understanding, some experience
o business process architecture – bottom up with bpel, bpmn top down for business
o data architecture – collaborative effort, good understanding of base concepts
o application architecture – good understanding of Java application architecture
o web architecture – good understanding of web architecture, Infrastructure
o distributed architecture – good understanding, good experience
o event driven architecture – good base, some experience, no CEP or ESP
o integration architecture – good understanding, some experience
• Very good knowledge & experience with modeling languages & techniques
• Very strong technical background (platforms, languages, protocols, frameworks, open source etc.)
• Experienced & comfortable in complex heterogeneous environments
• Knowledge & experience applying architecture design patterns
• Experience with architecture frameworks (TOGAF) & architecture certifications a plus
