IPA Education Publishing Company of the Year is looking for a Back-End Developer to join our team in beautiful Vancouver.

We are on a mission to improve the standard of maths education by providing world class teaching developed platform, textbooks, and teaching resources, and we love every minute of it!

As an Back-End Developer you will be joining a team of developers building and maintaining a complex infrastructure and web application.

What you’ll do:

● Execution of our web growth strategy, spanning web products, testing, and automation
● Development, and delivery of web-based applications and services

Technical Skills and Requirements: 3+ years development experience with focusing on back-end development or full stack.

Our current tech stack is Universal JavaScript. Some of the main libraries and frameworks we use are NodeJS, NextJS, React, Objection (MySQL ORM) and styled components with Rebass. We also integrate heavily with AWS services like Cognito, Lambda functions and SNS. On the DevOps side, we've setup everything with AWS CloudFormation via Sceptre and CircleCI integrations with Git.

What you’ll need:

● A solid understanding of JavaScript
● Building web products that are Responsive, Localized and Accessible (specifically WCAG 2.0 Level AA)
● Data security best practices
● Developing and executing functional and integration tests
● Developing relational databases with MySQL
● Working with and developing microservices
● Working and understanding all stages of software development
● Reviewing and participating in meaningful code reviews on Github
● Effectively communicating to both technical and non-technical team members
● JIRA / Confluence
● Using automated deployment tools - specifically CircleCI
● Understanding of working with AWS products and services - specifically (EC2, S3, Cognito,
CloudFront, WAF, Docker, Redis)
● Working in an Agile/scrum environment
● Familiarity with Product life cycle

Personal Skills + Education:

● Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, computer engineering or related technical
discipline or equivalent industry experience
● Driven to succeed in a fast pace and continuously evolving environment
● Passionate about delivering high quality software and best user experience possible
● Have a positive attitude with good interpersonal skills and is approachable and supports
● Ability to multitask and prioritize
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
● Solid work ethic, strives to meet and exceed expectations
