We are presently recruiting for two individuals - both within the Business Intelligence and Performance Analysis background.

Our client is looking for a seasoned Business Intelligence and Performance Analyst to be responsible for developing and reporting key performance metrics and drivers of those metrics for them. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this person will also assist in the development of a future business intelligence/data warehouse platform to run analytics projects that deepen their understanding of activities and deliver actionable insights in financial and non-financial operating metrics that meet the regular and ad hoc reporting needs of management and executives at our client and supports reporting to external partners and stakeholders (e.g. government bodies, post-secondary institutions). This individual will develop dashboards designed with the end user in mind, and initiate proactive analysis to identify trends and data to support recommendations and innovations that will improve our client operations and decision making.

The ideal candidate has proven business acumen, intense curiosity, excellent analytical abilities, strong technical skills, superior written and verbal communication skills. They will have a strong bias toward data driven decision making.

Major Responsibilities:

• Interface with business unit employees, managers, directors and vice presidents to understand all aspects relating to current and future reporting requirements.
• Learn and understand data sources (internal and legacy bodies), external resources and know how, when, and which to use.
• Interface with the IT team to understand the clients CRM system(s) design functionality in order to best interpret, design and support reporting for all internal and external customers.
• Develop/enhance reporting designed to assist business units in making informed decisions and providing support where it is most needed.
• Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will help shape the future.
• Analyze and assist in solving business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
• Generate standard or design custom reports summarizing business and/or financial data for review by executives, managers, and other stakeholders of our client
• Perform analysis using all available data (CRM, other internal financial and non-financial data, as well as external data) to identify opportunities for operating performance, member and student experience improvement, revenue generation, and cost savings opportunities.
• Develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity.
• Support self-serve capabilities by assisting in the training of our client reporting tools.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses and participate in projects as required
• Create, update and maintain operational/transactional data, analytical data and various repositories
• Participate in periodic reviews with senior leadership.

Qualification Requirements:

• Post-Secondary education such as Bachelor of Computer Science, Mathematics or Data Analytics is an asset
• Preference for CPA Designation
• 5-7 years’ senior level experience
• 3-5 years of relational database development and ETL experience is an asset; Microsoft SQL server is preferred.
• Experience solving complex quantitative business challenges
• Knowledge of accounting, financial, operational, and marketing principles
• Knowledge of costing and management accounting techniques preferred (i.e. activity based costing (ABC), resource consumption accounting (RCA), etc.)
• Experience using/developing BI systems or data warehouse solutions
• Experience in report and dashboard development
• Experience working with analytical/statistical tools such as R is an asset
• Strong analytical skills, experience with statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time series analysis, data mining, and financial analysis
• Experience in querying data and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
• Advanced Excel and Access skills
• Business Intelligence experience and front end BI tools (some examples include Power BI, Cognos, Tableau, , , or others)
• Experience in utilizing data originating from IMIS, MS Dynamics and Saleforce an asset
• Verbal/written communication and data presentation (Word, PowerPoint) skills, including ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
