Cloud System Devops Administrator

Our client, a large multinational company and leader in their industry is looking for a Cloud Systems DevOps Administrator
Location: Central downtown, Montreal

Metro Access: Yes
Onsite Gym: Yes
Openings: 1
Duration: 12 month contract with possible renewal / permanence

As a Cloud System Devops Administrator within the Cloud Services Operations and Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for the provisioning and support of our customer’s systems and infrastructure within the Cloud.

5+ years’ experience with the following:
• Creating scripts for complex task automation using at least 2 of these: Bash, PowerShell or python
• Linux administration: Debian & CentOS/Redhat
• Administration of Windows Server 2012 or newer
• Administration and management of virtual infrastructure based on vCenter and other VMWare products
• Support of Java/Tomcat based web applications from a Systems Administrator point of view
Candidates with the following skills/experience will stand a distinct advantage:
• Configuration management tool such as Puppet
• Automation tool such as Ansible
• Professional experience with public cloud technologies, specifically Kubernetes with Docker and Azure
• Professional, hands-on experience managing load balancer appliances
• Basic networking skills such as VPN & firewall configuration, routing concepts, etc.
• Ability to lead and contribute to the development, maintenance, and usage of deployment and task automation (mainly OS but also database services, virtual networks, or other platform services)

What you should know:
• Experience with various virtualization technologies and multi-tenant, private and hybrid cloud environments (VMware should be a major asset in your list of technologies)
• Experience with server OS and storage technologies required; Debian, Redhat, Centos support and operations; Knowledge of EMC VNX and/or Netapp an asset
• Expertise in scripting (BASH, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, Python, etc..,) and building/supporting required automation (using standard technologies such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef) and tools

What you should be able to do:
• Ability to lead and contribute to the development, maintenance, and usage of deployment and task automation (mainly OS but also database services, virtual networks, or other platform services)
• Ability to participate in fast-paced DevOps and SysOps teams
• Willing to get your hands dirty and work on manual tasks that are not yet automated
• Ability to coach and mentor the team
• Ability to work directly with architects and developers to debug problems and solutions
• Document and share your knowledge and keep it up to date
• Communicate directly with customers to support them in resolving their system and service issues
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support

Extra stuff you should have under your belt:
• At least 10 years working in a cloud environment (private, public or hybrid) with 1000+ instances
• Knowledge of Apache, SOLR, Tomcat and load balancing is a definite plus
• Basic networking skills such as VPN & firewall configuration, routing concepts, etc.
• Ability to create and troubleshoot basic SQL statements and experience basic performance tuning for databases
• Solid and proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Good English language skills (verbal & Written)
