Randstad Professionals is working with a large Real Estate firm who requires a Corporate Accountant for their Downtown Toronto location.

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting - the Corporate Accountant will be responsible for the full cycle accounting for a number of corporate legal entities, including the completion of monthly, quarterly and annual journal entries and related support, completion of account balance reconciliations, assistance with preparing quarterly forecasts and the annual budgets, and preparing wire and EFT payments to meet the various needs of their assigned legal entities.

The Corporate Accountant will perform the following duties:
Prepare all monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries and supporting documentation for various corporate legal entities, including analysis of final posted balances
• Prepare monthly reconciliations of the cash, equity, debt, and intercompany account balances and periodic reconciliation of other general ledger account balances
• Prepare and obtain appropriate approvals for wires and EFT’s for various corporate payments
• Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations and investigation of reconciling items for various legal entities
• Prepare monthly/quarterly GST/HST/QST analysis and filings
• Monitor bank balances and prepare cash flow forecasts to ensure sufficient funds to meet operational and development funding requirements
• Prepare steps memos, solvency tests and other documentation necessary to support contributions and distributions for various legal entities
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and the annual budget
• Complete tax financial statements and working papers for various legal entities, as well as audit packages and StatsCan surveys
• Propose recommendations for process improvements to support efficiency and effectiveness of day to day activities
• Assist Financial Analyst and Manager of Accounting with requests from external auditors and with requests from other departments such as Treasury and Tax
• Work on ad hoc projects, as required

Qualifications
University degree in accounting or business
• Completion of or working towards a CPA designation
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in corporate accounting, real estate experience preferred but not required
• Corporate Accounting experience in a large environment with a complex organizational structure
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required, and exposure to JD Edwards and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) preferred
• High attention to detail and accuracy and strong follow-up skills
• Self-motivated and adaptable to a changing and fast paced corporate environment managing multiple competing deadlines
• Strong communication / interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) as job will require frequent communication with all levels of management and other departments
• Able to embrace steep learning curve with an open attitude towards learning
