Bending Engineer

Job Summary
You are an experienced Bending / Field Engineer who brings to the table more than 5 years of previous mainline pipeline experience. Your background includes a strong ability to survey and measure the precise angles at which pipe will be bent, including pipe greater than 24” or greater, with 36” preferred.

Responsibilities
• Determining the type of bend (overbend, sag, side bend or a combination) and the degree of each bend
• Ensuring lapping where tie-ins are required (road crossings, side bends and test points)
• Converts measurements into calculations which determine the angle at which to bend the pipe
• Working with the welding team and the bending crew to complete tasks
• Laying out road, river, creek and pipeline crossing sections for ease of construction
• Ensuring heavy wall pipe is in locations indicated on construction drawings
• Mark each pipe joint and install cut stakes for roads, creeks and pipeline crossings locations to comply or exceed specifications and/or drawings as approved by the client
• Supervise an Engineering crew, which assist in pulling the measurements (distance) of the elevation shots and hold the elevation rods, and shoots and records the elevation changes and vertical bends
• May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
• 5+ years’ experience as a Bending/Field Engineer, Foreman or similar position on large mainline pipeline projects
• Previous experience working with 24" pipe or greater with 36” diameter preferred
• Able to read and understand construction documents as well as calculate angles
• Strong computer background including experience with MS Word and Excel
• Must have experience and knowledge using blueprints, surveying, and other measurement tools
• Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
• Must be willing and able to obtain valid PCST (Pipeline Construction Safety Training), First Aid Level C with CPR, Leadership for Safety Excellence, Professional Driver Improvement Training, and Ground Disturbance Level 2 certificates. Training provided
• Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
