We are currently looking for a Financial Reporting Analyst to our client, a leading Canadian Energy organization. In this role you will work full time hours from Monday - Friday on a 3 month assignment, earning a competitive rate of up to $50 per hour.

As a Financial Reporting Analyst you will be responsible for coordinating the establishment and maintenance of accounting and reporting processes/procedures following US GAAP, and maintaining internal financial reporting control processes to ensure appropriate governance structures are in place over the financial results of the organization. Daily responsibilities include:

• Prepares month end recurring and non-recurring journal entries, ensures that all relevant financial information is entered into the G/L on a timely basis and reflects contractual terms
• Reviews and analyzes the trial balance for reasonableness and accuracy of information and compliance
• Drives Day 1 to Day 5/6 month end activities, ensuring completion of specific accountabilities and deliverables associated with each day.
• Preparation of entity working papers to support Financial Performance Report pages plus quarterly external reporting within specific deadlines.
• Ensure financial reports are in line with contractual agreements and that proper information is captured to aid management in decision making (i.e. variance analysis to budget and prior year)
• Use and upkeep of financial models based on agreements, inputs from other departments, communications with all departments, and direction of upper management.
• Review and summarize new revenue agreements, build financial models to support the terms of the new agreements, and ensure that all reporting is in line with US GAAP.
• Preparation of financial statements.

Qualifications
• Working towards or holds a professional accounting designation
• Minimum 2 to 4 years post designation experience in an accounting environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong presentation skills
• Working knowledge of Oracle Financials / Hyperion Financial Management / SmartView would be an asset
• Excellent problem solving skills and strong orientation to customer service
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills combined with a results oriented business approach
• Ability to interpret and translate conceptual agreements/ideas into practice and prepare sensitivity analysis of the earnings impact as well as identify other significant financial implications
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP & Internal Control Principles
• Ability to apply accounting, auditing, tax and regulatory standards and principles
• Related university or college degree
