GES Payments Specialist

Reporting to the platform AML Officer and Director of Economic Sanctions, the Global Economic Sanctions (GES) payments team is a unique function in Global AML Compliance Group. The resource will be responsible for the review, investigation and decisioning of real time (incoming and outgoing) wire payments and cross border Automated Clearing House transactions of global RBC clients. Payments are escalated to the GES team for investigation to review the sanctions concerns identified in the payment transaction, to assess the risk and determine if the payment can be released, cancelled or blocked.

Resource will be required to have a strong understanding of the Canadian, US, UK and EU sanction regulations as well as strong awareness of payments processing for both SWIFT wires and Automated Clearing House transactions. Will need to ensure accurate documentation of investigations, escalation and resolution of sanctions matches (False, potential and positive) - adhere to policies and procedures.
Will need to identify clients who pose unacceptable sanctions risk to RBC and engage the Manager/Senior Manager GES Payments for further guidance.

Qualifications

2-5 years Financial Industry or payments processing - ideally including sanctions experience
Prior experience as a payments analyst at a Canadian Financial Institution
Ability to work in a high-paced, high-pressured environment
strong written and oral communication skills
Prior knowledge of sanctions regulations
