Reporting to the Branch Manager and Shop Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Technician will be required
to perform diagnoses and repairs on Heavy Duty Trucks in all areas of on-highway vehicles (including both towed and self-propelled).

• Inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul and repair of various components of a variety of heavy duty trucks equipped with diesel engines and automatic or manual transmissions.
• Requisition parts, materials and equipment as needed
• Complete detailed, clear and concise work orders
• Maintain order, cleanliness, work output and safe working conditions in own work area
• Comply with Company Health & Safety Program, Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and any other municipal, provincial or federal legislation as it applies to this dealership.
• Communicate with the Branch Manager immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Communicate with parts department efficiently to obtain needed parts. Know all the required parts that will be needed to complete the job assigned. Work with the parts department and their staff to best serve the customer.
• Road test vehicles when required or refer to the designated test technician.
• Participate in company and manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the shop foreman
• Keeps shop area neat, clean and safe. Reports any safety concerns to the Shop Foreman immediately
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, provincial, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, etc.

• Registered First Year Apprentice to Journeyman
• Must be able to pass a drug screening test
• Must have own tools
• Must have a valid class 5 drivers licence, Class 3 would be considered an asset
• Ability to understand and effectively use computer equipment including computers for diagnostics
• Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment safely
• Must be able to present yourself in a positive, professional manner to colleagues and customers
• Able to accurately communicate with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, government regulations, and company policy/procedures
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, customers and the public
• Ability to define problems, collects and analyse data, establish facts and draw conclusions
• Journeymen are required to have a strong understanding and working knowledge of emissions and powertrain systems
• CVIP with solid understanding of the E-Facility system considered an asset
