Randstad Engineering Edmonton is currently hiring a Permanent Safety Manager for a growth oriented, global energy services company specializing in technology-based products and services for the pipeline and petrochemical sectors, as well as other industrial markets. The company has established a dominant position in its markets through an unwavering focus on global growth, flawless execution, technological innovation and organizational excellence.

The HSE Management System consists of three levels of documentation. Level 1 describes what Company leadership expects in terms of HSE performance. Further, these Level 1 documents describe what management actions are required to achieve the stated goals. The Level 2 documents contain minimum health, safety and environmental standards consisting of technical direction. Each production facility is required to review the level 2 documents and develop site specific Level 3 programs which define specific operating requirements, which incorporate local regulatory requirements, at each location. The HSEMS is fully integrated within the global operations and relies on engineering controls, documented minimum standards and personnel behavior to achieve an IIF workplace.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
HSE Program Implementation
• Oversees and manages occupational safety/health and environmental program activities ensuring regulatory compliance and conformance to company standards.
• Fosters continual focus on Incident and Injury Free philosophy.

HSE Management System
• Directs Edmonton plants in the implementation of the HSE Management System and assesses progress.
• Works with warehouse HSE lead to continually improve the HSE Management System.

Leadership of Resources
• Ensure understanding and practice of the HSEMS and how to implement an effective employee understanding of the regulations affecting plants.
• Coaches and leads plant HSE resources to ensure technical competence.

Risk Management
• Direct overall risk identification and reduction programs for the Edmonton sites with the goal of reducing work related exposure to the lowest extent practicable.
• Carry out/manage periodic regulatory compliance audits and HSEMS audits of the Edmonton plants.
• Participate in Division HSEMS audits.

Training and Development
• Partner with fellow senior management to establish and implement training and development of plant employees.

Management Liaison
• Provide technical advice to management on all HSE related issues which may impact business operations.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 10+ years of experience in Occupational safety and health, chemical, environmental and HSEMS management
• Bachelor’s Degree In Occupational Safety, Environment or related field
• Canadian Certified Safety Professional Auditor, specific HSE Management system experience or training or Professional Engineer (PE)
• Experience with implementing HSE programs and management systems at multi-site locations
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to operate within all levels of the organization
• Excellent computer skills (spreadsheets, word processing, databases) and experienced in data analysis
• Knowledge and training in Canadian and Alberta health, safety and environmental regulations and how to apply them in varying situations
• Management experience a definite asset
