Our Richmond Hill Client is looking for a Linux System Administrator

Install and configure Linux servers
Support and optimize servers, run applications and services
Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
Communicate to staff or clients through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the telephone, to help set-up systems or resolve issues
Troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose and solve hardware or software faults
Support roll-out of new applications and hardware
Analyse, design, and develop modifications and changes to existing systems to enhance performance
Provide support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
Respond within a timely manner to outstanding production issues
Test and evaluate new technologies
Perform extraneous tasks as assigned
Skills and Capabilities

Degree in Computer Science or the Engineering field or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years Unix administration experience
Minimum 3 years IT experience in an enterprise environment
Solid knowledge of SMTP protocols and mail routing
Strong knowledge TCP/IP, routing, networking, and balancing
Understanding of security protocols: TLS, HTTPS, SSH
Advanced scripting skills: Perl, Python, Bash, Go
Experience with deployment automation tools (Salt, Chef, Jenkins)
Extensive experience with support and deployment of Java based applications (Tomcat)
Comprehensive experience building Web clusters (Apache, NginX)
The ability to effectively prioritize your workload and manage multiple daily tasks
Excellent organization skills with a strong attention to detail
Familiarity with other operating systems (i.e. Microsoft, OSX, macOS, iOS, etc.)
Problem solving skills
Excellent written and oral communication in English

Previous experience designing tools & reports for business users and operations
Previous experience with Java/Tomcat Application Servers
Previous experience with Postfix, Barracuda, and other spam blocking solutions
Previous experience with deployment automation
Certification (Security+, CCNA) is an asset
Working experience with VMware
Working experience with Git
