What will be your main responsibilities in this machine operator role?

- To follow a specified schedule to retrieve correct orders and following correct procedure to print jobs;
- Responsible for submitting the correct job files to printers according to the job production logs and stats pages;
- Ensure quality control check list is followed to ensure end product is correct, good quality and balances;
- Check the sample books for the most current sample;
- Assist in new jobs going live in production;
- Set up machines for specific formats and processing sequence to ensure maximum efficiency;
- Troubleshoot and/or diagnose mechanical or electrical problems in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) standard practices;
- Enter meter reads and prepare handover to next machine operator and any other explanations of incomplete work;
- If downtime occurs, access situation and reschedule jobs on other machines as necessary;
- Assist in training of new employee’s and monitoring their work so there are no issues;
- Provide ongoing support to departments for daily processing and equipment throughput;
- Fill out daily work sheets with totals;
- Escalate to the Supervisor when issues arise, within a specific time frame;
- Ensuring enough consumable are on hand for all printers;
- Distribute and monitoring remakes, that remakes are getting printed regularly;
- Ensure work areas are neat and clean, garbage emptied at end of each shift;
- Assist in updating the Test/Status Report when required;
- Help to promote a positive team work environment.

Qualifications
What are the skills and competencies required for this role?

- 3-5 years related work experience in the digital print field;
- Bilingualism (French and English);
- Experience working with Duplo, Horizion and Mueller Martini machines considered an asset;
- Ability to read and interpret documents including mechanical/electrical drawings and manuals;
- Strong verbal, written communication and organizational skills;
- Familiar with folders, cutters and booklet making equipment;
- Work under pressure in a fast paced environment;
- Must have high degree of accuracy, detail oriented and organized;
- Able to work independently or as a member of team;
- Ability to multi-task;
- Good problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize issues;
- Mathematical ability e.g. addition, subtraction, problem solving;
- Strong knowledge of computers;
- Computer experience with file transfer software is an asset;
- Strong mechanical aptitude;
- Required to lift up to 40lbs;
- Ability to stand, kneel and bend for extended periods of time.
