Provide accurate and timely support to other Superintendents by successful management of the workshop and field maintenance operations to assist with the Project achieving its agreed objectives.

- Pro-actively manage the effectiveness of health, safety and environmental (HSE) measures on site.

- Carry out specific HSE responsibilities as defined in the Project Management Systems including incident reporting, detailed investigations and conduction of safety observations.

- Lead crew Pre-start meetings.

- Attend client meetings as required

- Demonstrate visible Safety Leadership.

- Ensure that all incidents are reported in timely fashion, investigated and actions taken to meet Project goals.

- Participate in ICAM investigations as required.

- Assist with the establishment and implementation of maintenance Safe Work Instructions.

- Ensure adequate resources in order to deliver a safe work environment.

- Participate in daily Maintenance Planning Meeting.

- Participate in daily Production Meeting.

- Participate in Superintendent / Senior Supervisor Meetings.

- Lead the establishment and implementation of maintenance plans and processes.

- Establish and identify key objectives with each direct report in respect to their responsibilities and critically measure their performance against these objectives.

- Conduct Performance Reviews and develop performance management plans with Senior Supervisors and Shift Supervisors on a six monthly basis.

- Ensure direct reports have the required knowledge and skills, and display behaviours which will enable them to achieve their objectives and ensure they are accountable for the same.

- Establish and maintain clear line of communication with project support staff and client representatives.

- Establish plans to ensure adequate coverage of maintenance site functions in time of absences.

- Oversee the management of workshop personnel and sub-contractors and plant and equipment in the field and workshop.

- Successful management of the site plant management systems to deliver agreed project objectives including safe, efficient execution of maintenance activities within the approved time frames and financial budgets.

- Monitor, analyse and report plant and equipment performance in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

- Undertake inspection and verification activities as required by the Plant Maintenance Plan and other parts of the Project Plans as required.

- Obtain and review compliance and/or maintenance records of plant and equipment.

- Verify equipment performance and provide evidence of inspection and test activity at the workface.

- Ensure Supervisors and Planners liaise to plan fleet servicing and maintenance schedules to minimize interruptions to operations and delegate actions required.

- Ensure equipment is maintained and repaired in accordance with company policy and asset strategies.

- Coordination in consultation with the Maintenance Planner of off-site repairs and warranty claims.

- Prepare information for plant budgets.

- Ensure Plant Return information is entered on time and accurate.

- Ensure costing is as per the plant policy.

- Act to correct areas of project under performance.

- Participate in audit and review programs to ensure System compliance and effectiveness.

- Assist other Site Superintendents / Senior Supervisors in the completion of their work.

- Attendance at all specified meetings when on site, and represent the Plant Superintendent when absent.

- Keeping up to date professionally about operational and leadership practices.

- Pro-actively support the implementation and effectiveness of the Quality Management System on the project.

- Carry out any specific responsibilities as defined in the Project Management System


- Journeyman Heavyduty Mechanic background

- Minimum of 20 years of total experience

- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Superintendent

- Managed a large maintenance program on heavy equipment.

- Preferred experience in open put mining and hauling dirt/materials.

- Experience with large haul trucks, 930's, shovels, 785's, D8, D10, D11, 3/5/pc800, and shovels
