PLC Programmer

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate would be supervising, managing, maintaining and developing controls on existing and new machinery. The controls engineering will support personnel from maintenance/engineering and other teams in resolving issues with equipment to facilitate production and promote continuous improvements.

•Develop and implement control solutions to improve productivity
•Develop electrical/control systems with circuits ranging from high to low voltage AC/DC
•Develop, research and implement new technologies to continually improve machine up time and operability while support teams to provide technical expertise
•Integrate Die Cast Cell Knowledge to obtain process improvements
•Update Electrical drawings, control program files and equipment
•Rewrite existing controls specs to useable format for vendor quotes and in house use
•Work with purchasing to properly implement new stock and remove obsolete stock items, modifying the inventory to ensure all uses of components are accounted for
•Track hours against work done and projects completed
•Maintain a safe working environment, keeping current on legislation and requirements
•Opportunity to travel for projects to other global locations to set-up production lines

•Bachelors of Engineering or Technical Diploma in Electrical/Controls
•5+ Years’ experience with Machine controls design, robotic controls and programming
•Industrial Electrical Apprenticeship Electrician 442A is an asset
•Industrial Millwright or Electrician License an asset
•Ability to travel internationally – Valid Passport
