Randstad is looking for a Project Accountant for a successful construction firm located in beautiful Victoria BC.

This position requires a highly motivated, passionate professional with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. The company is extremely diverse in project type, scale, and location. A self-starter with a clear desire to make work fun and enjoyable within a team environment and an aptitude to execute in a changing professional environment are highly regarded attributes.

Duties and responsibilities

• Works with project managers , establishing successful business relationships and ensuring accurate and consistent billing and financial reporting at both the project and studio levels
• Assists project managers with accurate project initiation due diligence by following best practices throughout the project lifecycle
• Maintains accuracy of project data, project plans and project reporting
• Interacts with clients and consultants in a professional, courteous manner
• Reviews project, budgets, and staffing plans
• Provides accurate invoices to clients per contract terms
• Reviews project labor and expense charges with Project Managers for accuracy
• Forecasts actual vs. budget spending and analyze projects to provide meaningful input to leadership
• Monitor studio accounts receivable and assist Project Managers with collection efforts
• Various other duties as assigned by the Financial Director or CFO

Educations & Experience

• Professional accounting certificate or degree from a recognized institution
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the commercial construction field
• Experience with ERP software
• Experience with Sage 300 CRE software is an asset
• Experience with Procore is an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook required

Qualifications/Skills:

Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office . Must have solid verbal and written communications skills, organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere, and meet deadlines. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be detail oriented and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

• Self-motivated and self-starter with a strong work ethic, personally driven to consistently meet project and performance goals and deadlines
• Ability to work independently as well as with various disciplines, and committed to being an effective, contributing team player
• Monitor, analyze, and report on variety of metrics to ensure healthy business practices
• Embrace new technologies and constantly strive for greater efficiencies through process or technology improvements
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with different personality types
• Works well under pressure with multiple tasks and deadlines
• Must demonstrate a high level of accuracy and stable work performance
• Responds in a timely manner to vendors, consultants and staff with good written and verbal skills

• $55, 000 TO $70, 000 depending on experience
