job description

We are seeking a Quality and Safety Coordinator for a very busy and well established manufacturing client of ours in the Vancouver area.


Responsibilities:

-Participate in the investigation, data collection and root cause analysis for CAPAs (Internal, Corporate, National Purchasing) as it relates to finished product, components and raw materials; ensure responses to CAPA are made in a timely manner
-Review results of standard inspections (leadership audits, DQM, finished product) and initiate corrective action when necessary to address repetitive issues
-Perform inspection and initial analysis to determine root causes (warranty returns, shipping discrepancies, data collection, etc.) to address customer concerns and communicate results to Plant Operations and Quality
-Aides Plant Operations management to maintain updates to ECOs, deviation approvals, specification binders, and other engineering or quality documents
-Participate in the performance and/or review of quality self-audits to ensure appropriate corrective actions are initiated
-Update Quality and Safety Metrics daily (SQDC, LMS)
-Coordinate and provide shop floor training as needed (Leadership, DQM, WI, safety, orientation) ensuring training is current and meets program/regulatory requirements
-Coordinate Quality program with Corporate and Plant Operations
-Perform DQM and receiving inspections, participate in daily leadership audits (i.e. teardowns)
-Record DQM, SSR, shipping discrepancy, packout inspection, and leadership teardown audit data to populate Quality Data spreadsheet
-Perform safety audits, inspections, assist with incident investigations, report preparation
-Maintain critical OHS records and statistics, including the OSHA 300 Log, Total Case Incident Rates, DART Rates, Accident Investigation documents, JHSC meeting minutes
-Serve as the main documents administrator for all EHS policies, written programs and training programs
-Help facilitate factory involvement in OHS Cooperative Programs such as PIR, COR
-Serve as chairperson of the factory JHS Committee
-Administer the workers compensation claims management activities at the factory, including the return-to-work/modified duty process for work-related injuries
-Other office duties as assigned


Qualifications:

-College Diploma, or equivalent work experience
-Knowledge of provincial and federal OHS laws
-2-5 years related experience on shop floor or in safety-related position
-Experience teaching safety and quality courses
-Strong time management and organizational skills
-High level of accuracy and attention to detail
-Strong communication skills (written and verbal) including presentation skills
-MS Word and Excel skills
-Leadership skills
-Works well as part of a team
-Quality and SOP Management (QS or ISO experience preferred)
-Problem Identification and Resolution (5 why and root cause analysis)
