Our client, a leading financial organization in Canada, is hiring a Reconciliation Specialist for their downtown location.

The Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for reconciliations of cash balances, cash transactions, and securities holdings across all portfolios. The individual will be managing to tight deadlines, with involvement in problem resolutions and timely investigations with custodial banks, and various internal counter parties. The individual will be expected to be a team player and assist with tasks that need to be done within the overall Securities Administration department.

This role covers US, Canada, UK, Asia and the South East Asian territories.

The Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for the administration of the assigned investment portfolio activity including:
a) Reconciliation of cash balances and cash transactions across all portfolios
b) Reconciliation of securities holdings across all portfolios
c) Involvement in problem resolution and investigations with custodial banks and various internal counter parties
d) Timely investigation and response to internal client inquiries
e) Work with other departments within Securities Administration to ensure all outstanding items are cleared in a timely manner
f) Maintain daily and monthly reconciliations filing with proper back up documentations
g) Assist with Internal and External Audits
h) Participate in inter-department cross-training to ensure continuity of service.

Qualifications
• Post secondary education or minimum 2 years work experience in reconciliation in a banking or securities administration environment.
• Successful completion or enrolment in the Canadian Securities Course
• Knowledge of securities instruments/settlements, foreign exchange and derivative instruments/settlements and banking processes.
• Thorough knowledge of complex securities would be an asset
• Investment accounting knowledge.
• P. C. literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and processing systems such as MAXIMIS, bank reporting systems, Bloomberg and Reconciliation systems
• Client focused with the ability to understand the requirements of clients
• Good problem solving skills.
