We are currently seeking for ambitious Robotics Engineer with strong C/C++/Python programming skills and experience in integrating electronics components to join the team of Software and Machine Learning Engineers to execute the mechanical and electrical designs of our solutions, including the design of physical enclosures and locomotion systems for autonomous devices employing stereo cameras, motors and an array of sensors.

What Skills and Experience we would like to see in candidates for this role:

Post-secondary degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering or an equivalent combination of experience and knowledge;
2+ years of experience in C/C++/Python programming;
3+ years of experience assembling and integrating electronic components (i.e. reading circuit diagrams, prototyping on breadboards, soldering final pieces, etc.);
Proven ability to rapidly prototype mechatronics solutions – creativity and lateral thinking is welcomed at Terramera;
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g. KiCAD, Eagle, Altium Designer);
Experience deploying motors and motor controllers (stepper, servo, DC, etc.);
Solid programming skills with a focus on writing clean/maintainable code;
Solid knowledge around theory and practices in robotics;
Solid knowledge and experience on communication protocols and interface circuits;
Capable of performing research on best practices and making it consumable for other team members; and
Able to apply domain knowledge to ambiguous and novel situations.


Portfolio of completed mechatronics projects (e.g. UAVs, differential drive robots) available for review;
Exposure to Java;
Knowledge of JSON / XML;
Familiarity with six-axis robotic arm systems;
Comfortable with Ubuntu Linux development environment;
Familiarity with ROS + Gazebo/V-Rep + MoveIt! for robot control, simulation and motion planning;
Exposure to machine learning terminology and concepts;
Knowledge of the Agile project management methodology
