Security Architect

3-6 months to start (strong probability of extension)

Downtown Vancouver

what you will be doing:
• perform security assessments of new projects and technology implementations.
• review and approve changes to the IT environment that are of security or compliance consequence.
• monitor the IT security systems, and respond to threats and incidents appropriately.
• develop and establish new policy and review existing policy.
• scour the internal and external landscape for new threats to information security.
• participate in IT security awareness activities and make presentations to IT peers and senior management.
• report on security metrics and assessment results.
• research new technology as required to better protect systems and data.
• vet new architectural system designs, and design and implement security frameworks.

who you are:

you have been in the IT industry for 10 - 12 years; of which 5 – 7 years have been spent, in administering security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, AV, SIEM, AD, etc. and the last 2 - 3 years as a security risk analyst.

you possess exceptional communication skills, both written and oral; and are equally adept at explaining IT security risk to technical staff as well as senior management.

you have a strong ability to assess information security risks and translate them into business risks.
 you bring a level headed approach to the job and balance the costs and efforts of mitigation of information security risks against the business interests of the company.
 you bring with you application security experience, or possess a strong desire and ability to gain such expertise.
 you are an IT security pro who has a very deep understanding of at least 2 out of the 3 realms of network, server/database and application security.
 you have a strong passion for your profession, and are constantly tuned in to the latest security threats and events.
 you have security certifications and/or trainings that have grounded you in the principles of IT security risk management, technical risk assessments and penetration testing.
