Our valued client is currently seeking a Senior Embedded Software Developer on a permanent basis located in Kanata, Ontario. Our client is a leading manufacturer of SDN networking and security solutions for Tier 1 Carrier networks.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Design and implement controller software components that meet the agreed specifications
- Document designs in a clear and concise fashion
- Develop and execute test plans for designer testing of component blocks
- Contribute to automated test suites
- Support developed blocks through the lifecycle of the product including addressing defects that
are reported
- Maintain the code base during the development and submittal of components
- Develop accurate and timely estimates of design resource requirements and project schedules
- Support and assist other colleagues and customers to fix and improve products

Skills & Experience Required

- Proven experience as an embedded software developer for application software Experience with programming languages and tools such as C/C++, Java, Python, git/GitLab, tcpdump/Wireshark
- Experience developing system level software in a Linux development environment including work on X86 and Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) distributions
- Experience with Openflow Controllers such as RYU, ONOS and OpenDaylight
- In depth knowledge of the Linux networking stack is an asset
- Exposure to OpenvSwitch as a developer
- Experience with Linux virtualization and containers (Docker)
- In depth knowledge of developing software for multi-core, multi-threading systems
- Experience with contributions to Open Source software
- Excellent understanding of Traffic generation equipment (e.g. Spirent, Ixia, etc)
- Knowledge and experience with Security tools such as SIEMs, IDS, or IPS is an asset

Detailed protocol experience with many of:

- OpenFlow 1.3, sFlow, NETCONF
- networking technologies (e.g. TCP/IP), routing protocols (e.g. OSPF, BGP, ISIS), L2
- switching technologies, OAM, IPv6, 6rd, LISP
- IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.1Q (VLAN), MPLS, SyncE, IEEE 1588
- Detailed understanding of best practices for REST interfaces
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Excellent presentation, organizational and planning skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment

Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 10+ years of software development in networking
