Do you have previous accounting or financial analysis experience in the banking environment? Do you have a strong understanding of Commercial Loans and Credit? If so, we have an amazing opportunity for you!

We are currently looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to work a 6 month assignment in our banking client's downtown Toronto office! In this role you will have a great opportunity to gain exposure to various departments within the bank, as well as have a strong possibility of moving into a permanent role upon completion of the assignment.

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for the data integrity of the loan ledger, investigating report discrepancies, financial analysis, providing analytical support, and support user acceptance testing. additional responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the completion of the month-end reconciliation processes and required accounting entries
• Reviewing booked deals and investigates and resolves / or escalates for resolution of any issues / problems which may impact the daily or monthly reporting requirements
• Participating in source system upgrade; communicate and provide detailed recommendations on observations and anomalies.
• Assisting with business initiatives and projects, assisting in the development of new reports, and testing of new systems and or processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Providing senior guidance to other members of the team and operations on ACBS and accounting issues.
• Responding to queries for the daily cash funding reconciliation between cash position and the general ledger for each org (product) unit to ensure accurate reporting.
• Providing related supporting/analytical activities to Front Office, Risk Management and Finance, which includes profit/loss decomposition by business line to ensure business partners understand the underlying drivers.
• Preparing commentary and analyses for Finance to explain month over month and quarter over quarter fluctuations.
• Working closely with Central Processing Services to maintain integrity of loan data in source system.
• Reviewing month end accounting entries and supporting schedules according to Accounting/control procedures to adhere to regulatory guidelines.
• Reviewing daily controls and reconciliation of systems to GL to ensure accuracy.
• Producing month-end attestation packages to meet Finance and governance reporting requirements.

Qualifications
MUST HAVE
• Undergraduate University degree in Economics, Finance, or Commerce; preference is for Finance/Accounting
• 5-10 years’ related experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel (Macros and Pivot macro), PowerPoint, and Word skills
• Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards)
• Knowledge of operational and control procedures of financial systems
• Understanding of accounting terminology

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience leading a project or a team
• Knowledge of CIBC policies and procedures
• Knowledge of Advanced Commercial Banking Systems (ACBS)
• Working towards or has achieved a recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA, CA or CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA)
