We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a well established machinery client of ours in the Vancouver area. In this role you will develop concepts, design, prototype, test and prepare products for production.


-Improve features, manufacturability and regulatory compliance of current products and accessories
-Implement the product development cycle for new and innovative consumer and commercial grade products
-Develop products with the main focus on quality, throughput and the customer experience
-Develop, implement and maintain specifications, processes, documentation and information to support manufacturing of our products
-Test design prototypes at client facilities.
-Research the latest products and processes in our industry as well as the electro-mechanical designing world
-Validate, manage and develop suppliers for prototype and production components
-Assist other departments with engineering related issues
-Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of our team


-A proven track record of taking concepts to reality
-10+ years experience in mechanical design
-10+ years experience in 3D computer-aided design and manufacturing (Solidworks, PDM, Pro/E, Mastercam, HSMWorks)
-Strong experience with mechanism design, rotating equipment with tight tolerances and precision machining
-Understanding of the mechanics of materials and material selection for manufacturing
-Experience with tooling, fixture and mold design, pneumatics and hydraulics
-Experience with metal fabrication including TIG welding, cutting, forming and machining
-Familiar with production processes including CNC and conventional machining, plastic injection and vacuum molding and aluminum extrusions
-Understanding of PLC programming, electric motors, drivers, sensors and actuators
-Experience with patents, SR&ED, CSA, UL and CE
