Randstad Edmonton Engineering is hiring a Permanent Senior Project Engineer required for an established underground utility construction contractor, strongly skilled in advanced techniques of Tunneling, Direct Pipe, Horizontal Directional Drilling and Pipeline Construction.

Senior Project Engineer
Vancouver, BC / Edmonton, AB

Position Objective
Responsible for managing field engineering functions for a large project or a specific portion of a major project. Directs several professional and other groups engaged in interrelated field engineering responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
2. Directly supervise the teams. Carry supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing feedback; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
3. Ensure Project is constructed in accordance with the design, budget and schedule, and company/project policies.
4. Reviews, analyzes and resolves major and complex field construction problems/ discrepancies.
5. Manage project plans, schedules, and estimates and cost controls for a very large and complex projects.
6. Reviews and evaluates technical work.
7. Provides mentoring and coaching to other technical employees.
8. Preforms in-depth analysis and interpretation and recommendations of technical solutions.
9. Reviews, provides analysis and resolves complex field construction problems and discrepancies.
10. Provides interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors or craft supervision.
11. Engage the client on contractual matters related to work to be completed and financial considerations.
12. Perform take-offs, develop schedules and crew loadings, and solicit third party pricings to develop construction estimates.
13. Engage with, or assist clients in engaging with, stakeholders to validate technical feasibility of construction commitments.
14. Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications
• Engineering Degree or technical diploma (with additional experience) in relevant discipline with 15+ years’ construction and project management and Experience in major construction projects.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite
• Valid Driver’s License, required to operate a vehicle on a public roadway
• Ability to work away from home for extended periods in various projects sites across Canada

Desired Qualifications
• Registration as a Professional Engineer, or the ability to become registered
