What you’ll be doing?
As an IT Solution Architect with our Vancouver client, you will:
• Collaborate with team members, other IT teams and customers to understand the objectives, needs and issues of assigned customer area(s).
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Business Solution Engineers to define and/or review the solution requirements.
• Identify options that will address the solution requirements, create solution selection criteria, and assess alternative options.
• Provide technical leadership and take responsibility for planning activities leading to the design and development of solutions, ensuring delivery teams have a clear vision and path.
• Produce the detailed solution designs and participate in all stages of a product development life cycle (development, testing and release to production).
• Produce solution designs for new applications and manage ongoing design updates for existing applications.
• Work closely with infrastructure teams, security engineers and other architects.
• Define, document and develop in-depth knowledge of the structures, processes, integrations, data and infrastructure of assigned solution(s).
• Define, document and develop best practices, design patterns and technology standards.
• Communicate and enforce technology standards.
• Facilitate the evaluation and selection of hardware/software technologies.
• Analyze current solutions and identify opportunities for improvements and automation.
• Research/monitor relevance of technology developments and industry trends to the organization, and make recommendations to enhance productivity.
• Present work products to internal and external stakeholders.
• Review the work of team members and provide feedback.
• Deliver work products in line with schedule commitments and implementation plans.
• Identify risks/issues and propose mitigation plans to remove barriers.
• Apply knowledge of Agile methods and participate in team activities, ceremonies and efforts to continuously improve processes (backlog development, grooming, sprint planning and team retrospectives).
• Act as a subject matter expert and provide support, ad hoc training and guidance to others to increase adoption of Agile methods and DevOps practices.
• Ensure technical artifacts are accurate, accessible, maintained and communicated.

How do you qualify?
• Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Solution Architect.
• 3-5 years’ experience with agile methods (Scrum) and DevOps practices.
• 3-5 years’ experience with middleware integration (MQ-series, WebLogic, etc.).
• 3-5 years’ experience with DevOps tool chains (Git, Jenkins).
• 3-5 years’ experience With databases (Oracle DB2, SQL, MS SQL Server).
• 3-5 years’ experience with programming languages and dev platforms.
• Experience providing technical leadership to development&delivery team.
• Experience with issue tracking and product development and version control tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, listening and communication skills.
• Certification: TOGAF, CSP, PMI-ACP or eqv an asset.
• Experience in investment management / financial industry an asset.
