Our financial services client, located in North York, is looking for a full-time, Java Developer!

About the Role:

The Web Application Analyst will be a senior member of a team that provides a variety of web based application development and maintenance, and will utilize his/her strong design and development knowledge of business objectives and processes, people, products, technology and quality concepts to deliver cost-effective and timely solutions to business partners.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, code reviews, implementation and support of web applications and WebLogic technologies in a heterogeneous technology environment
Partner with business and technology areas to fully understand their needs, consult and work with them to deliver high quality solutions and services in a timely and efficient manner
Participate in various review processes – i.e. Business Requirements, Test plans, Design reviews, etc. to gain understanding of the application and provide input into the deliverables
Ensure that solutions meet both business and technical requirements, including performance, maintainability and stability
Provide leadership and process governance for projects involving 3rd party and off-shore teams
Hands-on development and design
Identify and assist in the re-engineering, improvement or replacement of business processes and associated technologies
Mentor junior team members

Qualifications:

University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
10 years of experience in Web Application Development , particularly with JAVA Technologies - Java, JDBC, J2EE frameworks, WebLogic, Eclipse IDE, RDBMS (MS SQL Server, Oracle, DB2), SOAP and REST web services and UNIX environments
Experience in Web User Interface development experience (HTML, JSP, AJAX, JSON, JavaScript, Web Services, XML, PHP)
Excellent understanding of web based applications and client server technologies
The ideal candidate will have an insurance/financial services background
Experience with some/several of the following: Microsoft (.Net) development experience, Computer Associates SiteMinder, Mobile application development experience, HTML5, Open Text Vignette/ WEM, Lotus Connections, SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence, NFC an asset

Preferred skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Customer and results focused - ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders and adapt approach when dealing with technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work both independently and as part of a strong, collaborative multi-site team
Excellent organizing, planning and time management skills with the ability to multi-task
Self-directed and proactive; thinks beyond the immediate problem with ability to analyze situations/problems systematically and deliver effective right-sized solutions in a timely manner
Possess an inherent passion for continuous improvement and innovation
Flexible and adaptable with the ability to align to changing priorities
