Well established Sherwood Park company looking to add 2 STRUCTURAL STEEL PLATE FITTERS to their team for a 3 month contract position that has the opportunity for long term employment based on the needs of the client. This is for a large scale project. Client will have various shifts and you may need to work days or afternoons. All applicants will be required to interview and must pass a criminal record check and drug and alcohol clearance.

Fabricating, Assembling and Fitting Structural Steel
Rig, hoist and move materials to and from workstation. Performs crane checks daily prior to use to ensure the crane is in working condition, if applicable.
Lay out reference points and symbols on the structural steel according to the blueprint.
Assemble and fit metal sections and plates using tack welding, bolting or other methods.
Set up and operate various equipment such as torches, drills, various clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other hand held tools.
Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
Mentors apprentices and junior fitters by sharing knowledge and safe work practices.

Qualifications
Structural Steel Plate Fitter with Industrial steel fabrication shop experience preferred
Availability to work multiple shifts
PPE and work site safety knowledge
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Ability to read a tape measure in both metric and imperial
Ability to Weld
Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment
Organization Skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities
Communication Skills – Both Written and Oral
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Analytical and Problem Solving skills
Standing
Hand-eye co-ordination
Manual dexterity
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
