The Team Leader, Projects and Accounts Payable is a key member of the Accounts Payable team reporting to the Controller. The role is responsible for leading and supporting the accounts payable team and processes. The ideal candidate has a progressive and innovative attitude to take on challenges and manage change.
Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

Provide ongoing training, development, coaching, performance management and opportunities for growth to a team of four people;

Identify evaluate, and implement process improvements and new technology to drive efficiencies through streamlining and automating processes and procedures;

Demonstrate strategic leadership by identifying problems at the source and seeking solutions that are consistent with the firm’s best practices;

Use analytical skills and judgment to solve problems and deal with complex issues that require in-depth assessment;

Ensure proper controls, safeguards and segregation of duties are in place;

Review and analyze month end reconciliations and vendor statements and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies in a timely manner;

Document and maintain policies and procedures manual for accounts payable;

Support forecasting, budgeting, and year end activities;

Build relationships with firm members and foster solid working relationships ensuring collaboration, teamwork and effective information sharing; and

Other projects and tasks as assigned.

Strong leadership and project management skills;

Excel in a fast paced environment;

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

A team player with the ability to take initiative and work independently;

Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

Proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook;

Minimum of five years of relevant experience;

Post-secondary education with a focus in business or accounting;

Completion of CPA designation an asset; and

Experience in a professional services environment an asset.
