Our client is looking for an Intermediate Web Design / Developer to join a growing department on contract for 12 months with possible extension.

As the ideal candidate you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:


1. The candidate is accountable to meet deadlines set out by the project manager while meeting quality standards set out by the client.

2. Comply with policy and procedures that apply to contract staff.

Section 3 – Description of Work

This position reports to the Project Manager.


Content Repository

• Designs and builds MadCap Central repository based on an agreed taxonomy with the Sr. Technical Developer;

• Organizes and manages content repository, taxonomy, tags, and fixes problems and

• Administers content repository, maintain procedures and content publishing schedules.

Content Management/Workflows

• Develops and tests workflows (as required) under direction of Sr. Technical Developer;

• Works with internal publishers who collaborate to create new training material;

• Provides training on content management/workflow

• Supports triage of content, workflow and multi-channel problems and fixes.

Multi-Channel Publishing

• Supports publishing cycles for content, as required;

• Resolves problems during publishing cycles and

• At times, responsible for content publishing cycles to multiple channels.

Scripting, SCORM/AICC-Wrappers

• Possess knowledge of XML Schema, Editors and MadCap Flare;

• Develops programming scripts, and SCORM (or AICC) wrappers (as required) to
support publishing online training packages into MadCap

Project Competencies

Technology Acumen

• Responsible for maintaining advanced knowledge and skills in web development by researching trends and staying educated on changing technologies

• Maintains high level of awareness of web and browser standards (e.g. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari) and trends and

Multi-Channel Publishing

• Responsible for the creation and management of a content repository and

• Publishes to multiple channels, such as Print, Web, Desktop, Mobile Devices and Tablets, within a production environment.

• Demonstrates expert level of interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and

• Can manage tight deadlines and multiple priorities simultaneously.

Technical Understanding

• Previous experience with MadPak Professional Suite (Flare, Contributor, Analyzer, Mimic and Capture) and

• Acts as the liaison between Information Technology, MadCap Software and program.


• Highly skilled in organization and planning and

• Self-starter and versatile in a dynamic environment.


• Ability to build productive relationships with a diverse group of constituents and

• Acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contributions.


• Develops relationships with stakeholders that foster collaborative approach;

• Works comfortably on medium to large projects.

Must Haves

The qualified candidate will possess these skills and qualifications:

• Completed diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Technology or Engineering Technology, Applied Information Systems Technology or equivalent;

• At least three (3) years’ experience working onauthcoringntent man templates, creating built-in separation of content/structure, scripting, variable support

(TOC files, Page Layouts, cross references, hyperlinks, etc.), administering taxonomy within repository, loading/editing XML content, and diagnosing and resolving problems;

• Experience with MadCap software;

• Experience with G-Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive and Sites) is required;

• Demonstrated experience working on in a team environment, with tight time lines and on medium to large projects is required.

• Practical experience working with JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, SASS/CSS3, XML, XSLT, XHTML, Schema Editors, such as Altova XMLspy, etc. is needed and

Nice to Haves

Candidates with these skills and qualifications are desired:

• Prior experience working with government transportation or transit services is an asset;

• Experience as a technical writer for a technology company; software, hardware, electrical engineering.
