Our client is looking for a Sr Design Strategist/Specialist for an initial 5 month contract with the following skills:

Experience and Qualifications:
1. Post-Secondary degree in a foundational field of User Experience (UX) such as:
human computer interaction, digital media design, human factors engineering,
information studies – or a combination of education and equivalent work
2. Hyper-focused on delivering great customer experiences aligned to business
3. Passionate about modern design practices and methodologies and can guide the
design process from framing a challenge, to research and insights, to concept
and implementation.
4. Well-versed in complete digital product development lifecycles from planning
through to execution that solve business problems
5. Adept at developing a highly-collaborative lean, agile, human-centered
environment in context of a large, more traditional organization (experience on
public sector projects is a plus)
6. Highly detail oriented, organized, and exceptional analytical skills, with ability to
communicate design rationale, build consensus and translate complex content
into user scenarios, flows and diagrams
7. Ability to bring leadership and influence across organizational layers - consult,
negotiate, resolve conflict, build relationships all through great communication
8. Passion for great design, purposeful aesthetic sense, an eye for detail and a
demonstrated understanding of typography, color, layout
9. Deep appreciation and talent for simple, effective solutions to complex problems
grounded in qualitative and quantitative data
10. Extensive experience setting objectives, developing materials, executing and
interpreting a range of lean research methods (contextual inquiry, interviews,
immersion, etc.)
11. Can provide examples of problem solving where you have lead organizations to
arrive at successful design solutions to real-world human problems (not just
artistic or academic exercises).
12. A combination of strong verbal and visual communications skills. You’ve got a
knack for succinctly capturing thoughts and expressing them to others. You have
a strong design voice and point of view on where to go and why.
13. Excellent communicator with great instincts about how to synthesize and tell a
captivating story, build a deep rapport, and give honest feedback.
14. Easily switch from macro to micro; from understanding the strategic value and
business dynamics of an organization’s product or service, to caring about visual
design at a pixel or message level.
Nice to Have:
• Experienced in tools of the trade for wireframing, visual design and prototyping,
e.g. Sketch, Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Axure, Balsamiq, InVision, UXPin, InDesign,
Omnigraffle, HTML/JS, Post-its, whiteboard, pen and paper
