Responsibilities
  • Provide interest rate and FX pricing to business units in line with global pricing policy and market dynamics
  • Management of nostros and daily cash flows within given limits, ensuring liquidity obligations are met at all times at minimal cost
  • Managing mismatch positions arising from client driven flows to optimize net interest income and ensuring interest rate risk are within approved risk limits
  • Ensure currency risks resulting from client flows and balance sheet are efficiently and properly managed
  • Engage the inter-bank money market in managing mismatch positions, maintaining market presence in raising profile of the bank in the inter-bank market. Initiate and maintain good relationships with local banks. Keep abreast of market developments and identify potential adverse market conditions
  • Stay abreast of regulatory framework impacting balance sheet management and ensure money market activities are conducted in conformity with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the department’s awareness of short term and long term changes in the regional market. E.g interests, currencies, actors and services. Analyse market changes and ensure the incorporation and distribution of the acquired knowledge within the treasury policies and organisation
  • Draft reports concerning the positions of the desk. Able to explain and present these reports to higher management and stakeholders in local and head office

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting and the role requires the capacity to deal with numbers quickly and accurately
  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in money markets / ALM dealing
  • Good communication skills to service business units and able to develop solid working relationships with support functions across the bank
  • Able to work independently and professionally under stress situations
  • Knowledge of the local regulatory framework concerning liquidity management
  • Good IT knowledge and skills with spreadsheets
