Permanent full-time position
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5pm. As well as a rotational on-call schedule.
Salary: $50k - $56k per year

Responsibilities
As a Jr Building Operator, a normal week would include:
- Install, repair, and maintain climate control and other mechanical systems within a building
- Oversee preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, elevating devices, roofing, and life safety systems;
- General maintenance including housekeeping such as sweeping, litter pick up, shoveling, and pressure washing;
- Assist with environmental assessments and reporting;
- Participate in corporate occupational health and safety programs;
- Assist with waste, recycling, and hazardous materials issues;
- Monitor of computerized control systems;
- Respond to tenant service requests;
- Assist with insurance and risk management inspections, remedial actions, and reporting;
- Remain current and up to date with new industry practices, legislative changes and new technologies;
- Continually seek opportunities to improve energy consumption
- Quickly respond to and manage environmental hazards
- Consider sustainability when evaluating options for replacement equipment
- Participate in tenant and staff community support events as appropriate
- Participate in the on-call rotation which may include all buildings in the portfolio.
- Other assigned duties.
Qualifications
What do you need for this position?
- 5th Class Power Engineer (or equivalent) or working towards, or; a Trade Certification or time served in a trade or equivalent demonstrated previous mechanical and preventative maintenance experience;
- 1 to 2 years of direct work experience holding a junior position in building operations or a similar maintenance role and demonstrating a good knowledge of use of hand and power tools;
- A valid driver’s license;
- Entry-level skills in Microsoft Office;
- Ability to work with CMMS and complete work orders electronically;
- Ability to work with building automation controls and machine microprocessor control systems
