The Supply Chain Operations department in Dow Benelux Integrated Center is responsible for the coordination of logistic services, such as road and marine transports and the storage of Dow products. It makes sure that Dow products are delivered on time throughout EMEA. The several teams working within the department focus on areas like logistic coordination, including carriers and storage facilities. Supporting International Trade Operations (compliance with customs regulations, the creation and timely delivery of original documentation packages for export purposes) and Quality is also one of the tasks. Another team is engaged in the observance of (financial) damage suffered as a result of errors and accidents during the logistic process and holding someone accountable for it.

The Claim Coordinator has overall responsibility for monitoring claims through the entire claim process and keeping stakeholders informed of progress. The Claim Coordinator has to handle a variety of administrative and reporting tasks, some of which have to be dealt with on a daily basis. As the first point of contact internally and externally for claims, they work with Stakeholders (logistics service providers, Dow customer account representatives, schedulers, planners, Logistics Specialist, Logistics Quality Coordinator; business supply chain and marketing contacts; out plant locations, shipping sites, Logistics Procurement and Emergency Response contacts) to gather data and documents for potential/actual claims.

Job Expectations

• Monitor functional mailbox
• Act as owner of the Claim Database
• Be responsible for claim data input and reconciliation for accounting purposes
• Determine preliminary probable cause of damage ascertained and take appropriate related actions
• Perform all-round administrative tasks regarding claims within Europe.
• Make assessment of incoming claims and send out statements of liability accordingly
• Assign tasks and disperse incoming communication to Claim Specialists

Indicative Activities

• Asses and distribute daily incoming claims to the team
• Keep stakeholders informed
• Update Claims database daily
• Issue claim documents (CNF, SOL etc.)
• Evaluate and handle lower value and less legally complex claims
• Follow up on payment of claim
• Send out SOL
• Recall Statements of Liability
• Complete database & extract information from database
• Gather data (guided by Claim Specialist)
• Prepare final claim towards liable party
• Provide support in the coordination of shipment returns, disposal or off grade sell of material for lower value and less legally complex claims
• Provide claim communications for informational purposes to plant personnel, customer account representatives, businesses and functional Mailbox
• Obtain product pricing information; shipment transportation information
• Provide necessary information to the Accounting Department
• Process invoices related to services contracted (e.g. Surveyor, Loss Adjuster)
• Handle property damage Benelux


MBO 3/4


5-10 years of experience in Supply Chain

Other Qualifications

• Fluency in English (written & oral)
• Ability to speak one or more other European languages (Dutch, German, Spanish or French a strong advantage)
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Desktop applications
• Experience with SAP R3
• Strong analytical skills
• Works independently, is self-motivated and accountable
• Ability to work towards tight deadlines
• High level of accuracy

• Excellent planning & organization skills
